Sleeping kid
Ro asks me to check on him every night after he is asleep. And I do. I take this moment to gaze at his peaceful face, rub my thumb along his cheek, and rearrange his stuffed animals so that any favorites that got moved away are back close to him. I cover his feet with his blanket, and whisper “I love you, baby.”. Occasionally, I’ll take a picture. When I tell Ro the next morning that I took a picture of him at night, he immediately asks to see it. His face breaks into a happy grin seeing himself on my phone, knowing he was checked on by me. He deserves that sense of security.
