An inking of love

There is a sweet boy I love who got very, very sick.

I knew I would have a little “ink of love” on my body on this boy’s passing. But when it came to the weekend before we were supposed to let him pass, I wished so badly that I had done it earlier, in good times. Nevertheless, I drew up an idea, and had him place his seal of approval.

After much thinking (mostly the big question of avoiding swimming) over the course of summer, I finally bit the bullet. He wasn’t getting any better, and I was not going to spend my life regretting the delay. Last afternoon, I met the awesome artist Justin, and sat down with my Kindle to read a book while he worked on me.

I presented the outcome, saran wrap and all, to Kuttu. He was not even mildly impressed.

But goshdarnit, I am mighty impressed. The sun mandala signifies the light he brings to my life. The Lotus, that he will keep existing in this world for me, even if he transitions to another (lotus symbolism in Hinduism is of one who can be in this world without being of it). And KCP, for the one and only Kuttuma C Puppins. Best dog ever. The ink is supposed to stabilize to a deep reddish brown once the blue of the sketch fades away. I’ll post another picture once the scabs heal.
